great expectations
- 토요일, 7월 11, 2009 -
its inevitable for human beings to have expectations. of food, things, people, animals and what-nots. but with expectations, comes hope. so when expectations are not met, hopes dashed. and there comes disappointment.
to avoid disappointment, we can say, dont put your hopes too high. does that mean to expect lesser or not to expect?
how do one expect lesser? if we expect the food to be good, should we expect lesser and say 'lets hope the food will be palatable.'
if we do not expect at all.. wait a minute, is that even possible? after all. expectations are inevitable.
if we do not expect kindness, do we expect unkindness?
if we do not expect care and concern, do we expect an unloving friend and unloving world?
sounds like an extremist view.
but imagine, if you didnt expect a celebration, the surprise and warmth you feel when you receive one.
disappointment? or surprises?
