Hippocrates,
On the Sacred DiseaseMen ought to know that from nothing else but the brain come joys, delights, laughter and sports, and sorrows, griefs, despondency, and lamentations. And by this, in an especial manner, we acquire wisdom and knowledge, and see and hear and know what are foul and what are fair, what are bad and what are good, what are sweet and what are unsavory... And by the same organ we become mad and delirious and fears and terrors assail us... All these things we endure from the brain when it is not healthy... In these ways I am of the opinion that the brain exercises the greatest power in the man.
Its humbling/horrifying to know that in the end, we can break down a person's character, personality, perception, emotions [and the list goes on] into the cellular and molecular mechanisms of the matter in various sections of the brain. what makes you and me different? is change that easy? that will involve tweaking of the synapses, the important temporal management of LTP and LTD. How do we explain brain power? a sudden sprouting of synapses? Do people remember pain more, or happiness more? the pathways involved in remembering movements/sports are different from studying errr neurobiology, for e.g.. so should i start to jump/run/cycle when im studying? will that send what i study to my cerebellum? probably not. and why why why? ok im mad. :p
i have been alternating between the korean and the french versions of skype too! and i realised.. i can understand the french version better. oh and my korean tutor is HOPPING MAD! hurhurhur. im going to class on coming Tuesday to be turned into bulgogi. wish me luck. in turning into a yummy bulgogi and not a chao ta one.
