Theory of Relativity

while sitting on the shuttle buses in nus, you will usually find people talking. and their conversations go like this:
"wahs the test was SUPER difficult la, like WHO can do la.. ... ..." "ya lohs! die my CAP is going to die!"
or "ehs the test quite ok lehs. but i think everyone will score very well. SIGHS."
so whether the test is easy, or difficult, the students are never satisfied.
then horror of horrors. i enter my french cls, and a classmate asked me how the grades are allocated. he went on to tell me how he calculated the standard deviation from the marks that were given out.
and my biostats test, the total is 20marks, and the median is about 18.5
which means if you got 2marks deducted you are BELOW average.
which essentially means, to get A, you should get full marks, to get B you should get 19.
so strategically, since its a never-ending rat-race, shouldnt everyone agree not to study hard, so that to get an A is just to pass? one just needs to be relatively better than others.
comparisons dont just stop here.
do you know, that an average-looking woman appears more beautiful when shes standing next to a less-than-average-looking woman? and an average-looking woman looks super ugly standing next to a super-model.
in this world of relativity, nothing is absolute.
