pour la première fois

why is emphasis usually placed in first times?
the first time one rides a bike successfully
the first time one makes a really good friend
the first time one scores first in a test
the first time one leaves the sunny island for a faraway place
the first time one gets disappointed [and bears a grudge forever]
the first time one gets a big scolding
the first time one finds someone hateful
and the many other first times
how about the second, third, fourth times? are they equally important or as memorable?
some people placed so much importance on first times, that they put in a lot of effort just to have an almost perfect first time.
but what if, u are not the first friend he/she makes, does that diminish the value of the friendship?
this subject is not the first time you score perfectly, does that diminish the value of your A?
so. why the emphasis of first times?
perhaps, as a wonderful start or an awful expectation for the subsequent times to come.
Friedrich Nietzsche
The advantage of a bad memory is that one enjoys several times the same good things for the first time.
